Sailor Moon Eternal (January 8, 2021))
After a three and a half year wait — and an unexpected delay right before release — Sailor Moon has finally returned to the big screen after a 25 year hiatus.
Much like many other fans in the West who only learned of the series after it ended its run in Japan, the idea of ever seeing a new Sailor Moon theatrical release on the big screen seemed impossible.
And yet now that dream’s come true. This morning I sat down and watched magic unfold, and I’d like to share some of that with you.
Today I’d like to talk about my general thoughts and impressions of the movie while keeping all specifics to the absolute minimum. So without further ado, let’s dive right in!
Sailor Moon x My Melody Café @ The Guest
When I think about likely Sailor Moon cross-overs, I have to say that Sanrio’s My Melody doesn’t even rank into the top 20 of the properties that I would ever imagine seeing any form of synergy with. And yet, here we find ourselves with a new collaboration café featuring these two juggernauts of cute.
Opening to four cities across Japan (Osaka, Sapporo, Tokyo, and Nagoya), this tie up with The Guest cafés features our favorite Sailor Soldiers in Sanrio-inspired designs and offers up a variety of equally adorable dishes.
Thanks to the stars aligning in my favor, I was able to get into the Sailor Moon x My Melody Café on opening day here in Tokyo, so I figured I’d share the experience with all of you here.
You might want to eat a light snack before reading this, otherwise you’re gonna get hungry…!
Sailor Moon Cafe 2017 @ Omotesando Box
As I’m sure you’re probably aware (and if you’re not – surprise!), Sailor Moon cafes have opened up for a limited time online in four different cities across Japan – Tokyo, Osaka, Nagoya, and Fukuoka.
The cafes all feature the same Sailor Moon-themed menu, offering up an impressive selection of 13 different foods, drinks, and desserts inspired by characters and items that appear in the show.
Thanks to the absolutely wonderful people over at Patreon who support Tuxedo Unmasked, I had an opportunity to go to the Sailor Moon Cafe to write up this review.
I don’t know about you, but I’m hungry. Let’s eat!
